Chat Etiquette/Rules

Welcome to the chat room of FreeTradingVideos.com, Inc. (FTV).  While using our chat room we would like to remind you of a few simple rules.  The purpose of the chat room is to facilitate the rapid exchange of trading ideas and charts in a friendly and respectful manner.  Our moderators work diligently to keep the chat room a “healthy” environment for all traders.

Respect for all is a must.  It’s important that we never forget that this chat room is enjoyed by members from numerous countries including every state in the US . Keep in mind, that both genders, every religion, and every political preference are represented in the FTV membership and it is important to be mindful of this when posting in the chat room.

In order to facilitate the successful moderation of the FTV chat room, the following behavior is not permitted at any time:

  1. Bad Language:

Offensive language is not permitted in the chat room of FTV.  The chat system filters out most known offensive language.  Using punctuation to bypass this filter is also not allowed and will result in a public or private warning.  If problem persists the moderator will remove offender from the chat for a period of 24 hours (Yellow card/ kick from chat).   Repeat abuse will result in permanent community ban (red card / full FTV ban).

  1. Derogatory Comments or Behavior (Flaming):

As mentioned, the FTV chat room has users who may have different views from you on a variety of subjects.  FTV wants to foster the positive exchange of ideas and different viewpoints.  Therefore, anybody who disrespects or "flames" other users, or the community at large, will earn a yellow card.
Flaming is a hostile and insulting interaction between users. Examples of flaming would include:

a)     Repeating the same sentiment or idea to the community at large or to another user in particular (bullying).

b)     Using derogatory slang or name calling

c)      Argumentative and intolerant of others

d)     Using large text to shout (large text should only be used by the room moderators).

e)     Encouraging arguments by discussing politics not relating to trading or relevant market action

f)        Encouraging arguments by discussing religion not relevant to trading or market action

3.      Solicitation.

Posting URLS to other trading sites (spamming), is not permitted.  Posters doing so will be yellow carded.  Repeat offenders will receive a permanent red card ban.  Site owners found to be posting links to their own sites, (commercial ones in particular) will automatically receive a red card ban.  Posting links to other chat rooms is also not permitted.

  1. “Pump and Dump” /Scalping.

”Pump and Dump”/Scalping is an illegal practice that involves buying a security, verbally “pumping up” the same security, and then selling it after a desired move up.  Conversly, a security can be sold short, verbally “torn down”, and then bought back after a desired move down.  This practice is illegal and 100% unacceptable in the FTV forum and/or chat room.  All chat room users that own a security and also want to talk about that security, are requested to fully disclose that they own it long or short.  It is also the responsibility of any chat room user to do their own due diligence on a security or consult with an investment advisor prior to any buy or sell of a security.  Anyone found to be “pumping and dumping” or attempting to “scalp” a trade will be red flagged (permanently banned) from the chat room and website as a whole.

Rule Enforcement:

The moderators primary chat room responsibility is to facilitate the exchange of trading ideas, observations, and charts in real time.  There are a number of tools at our disposal to remove disruptive chat room members who are not following our well defined etiquette rules.  The aim is to have good supervision while also allowing for the creativity and personal expression that people desire.  Each moderator will be able to make a supervisory decision as to which one best applies after an offense is witnessed.

  1. Private/public chat warning:

Chat room members may receive a private or public warning regarding inappropriate behavior.  Offenders will avoid further negative action by not being argumentative with the moderator or repeating the behavior or any variation of that offense.

  1. Yellow Card or "Kick"

A kick will revoke posting rights to the chat room for a period of 24 hours. This is typically for a more serious infraction.

  1. Red Card or "Ban".

A ban is removal from the FTV website and is usually permanent.  This option will only be used in the most severe cases or where other remedial action by the moderators has not been heeded.

Record log:
FTV logs all chat posts (public/private) for an indefinite amount of time and can be viewed by the FTV admin.

If you, as a user, spot something you think doesn’t belong, please open a private chat with one of the moderators or send a private email message to a moderator.

Font/Size/Bold:
On a final note, please reserve the
color blue font for analyst and moderator posts and the use of Blue/bold shall be reserved for only the analysts.  This will make it easier for users to easily spot and benefit from their posts.  All those who have made it through the FTV mentoring program may use bold/black.  For all others, please feel free to use any other color, but keep the font size small (not large or bold.)
